  • Generally speaking, no.

  • Each employee (and the employer) pays into MN Paid Leave starting in January 2026. Payment is not dependent on usage. 

  • For intermittent leave, each day (or hours) equals that day (or hours). It does not convert to a full week. 

  • Yes

  • The best option is to call MetLife directly at 1-800-300-4296.

  • Yes, it is available to every employee, regardless of insurance status with GCED.

  • Yes, each employee group has a GCED match available to them. Please see your employee group contract for more information. 

  • There is no currently language in any GCED Agreement/Conditions for this. The employee is eligible for the normal end of year payout options.

  • Answer 1    Teachers with 17 days or more of accumulated Sick Leave have the right to sell these days  back to GCED for the teacher's 403(b) or HSA.


    Answer 2    Staff can roll over unused Sick Leave into their next school year's Sick Leave.


    Answer 3    Paraprofessionals and Teachers can roll over unused Personal Days into the next school year, for a maximum total of 5 Personal Days.

  • Subpoena's are addressed in GCED Board Policy #408. There is a distinction of leave options between a subpoena involving employment and one involving personal life.
